Merger with UCLouvain

We have the pleasure of announcing the official merger of Université Saint-Louis -  Bruxelles and UCLouvain.

What does this mean? After decades of academic and scientific collaborations, Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles and UCLouvain have decided to unite and bring new opportunities to their students and staff. UCLouvain is a comprehensive university located 35min away from Brussels. With more than 30,000 students, it is the leading French-speaking university in Belgium (QS Ranking). This merger represents great opportunities for our merged University and for our partners.

When will it be official? As of September 14th 2023, Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles will officially become one of UCLouvain’s 8 campuses and be renamed UClouvain Saint-Louis - Bruxelles. The UCLouvain Saint-Louis - Bruxelles campus will remain largely unchanged. Our current location, academic staff and administrative staff will stay the same.

What does this mean for our partner institutions?

Practically speaking, this merger will not have an impact on our partnership:

Incoming students will continue to stay and study on our Saint-Louis campus in Brussels and have access to the same academic programmes and course catalogue.

Visiting staff and researchers will continue to have the opportunity to stay on our campus in Brussels and collaborate with our team of 216 teaching staff and 236 researchers.

Our international office team will continue to work on the Saint-Louis Bruxelles campus. Our contact points will remain the same. We will continue to manage incoming mobilities as a human campus offering first-class academic support and flexibility to incoming students.

Given the legal form of this merger, no amendments to our current agreements need to be signed. The modification of our institution's name does not affect the validity of our agreements.

What if your institution also has an agreement with UCLouvain?

The different agreements will still be valid and managed separately by each campus’s international office. This applies even if the agreements include the same fields of studies.

Because agreements will be managed separately, having an agreement with the Saint-Louis - Bruxelles campus will be necessary to send your students to our campus in Brussels.
