Erasmus-Belgica Policy Statement
Created in 2004, the Erasmus Belgica program aims to promote the mobility of the Belgian Higher Education students within the various communities of the country to enable them to live both a linguistic and cultural immersion.
Pioneer in bilingual programs, the Université Saint-Louis - Bruxelles has always attached particular importance to the learning and improvement of another national language. The exchanges of students following some courses at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel in the framework of the bilingual Bachelor degree demonstrate this will. Within the last few years, Saint-Louis has also concluded several cooperation agreements with the Universities of Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven and Hasselt.
The University pursues the objective of developing new partnerships with universities of the Flemish Community and, therefore, to increase the number of student exchanges.
In this regard, in addition to the current exchange programs in its three faculties, it wants to develop in priority its Erasmus Belgica exchanges offer for students enrolled in the third year of the Law Bachelor degree. Indeed, Erasmus exchanges within the European Union are hardly possible for undergraduate students in Law given the specific content of their courses. However, under the Erasmus Belgica framework, the problem of course equivalencies does not arise because the subjects taught are similar on the whole Belgian territory.
