Learning outcomes :
At the end of the course, students will be able to: - locate the major periods of Russian history in its geopolitical, economic, social and cultural dimensions ; - identify and explain historical and socio-cultural references in written and oral texts ; - produce, in writing and orally, a discourse on the cultural phenomena specific to the major periods of Russian history; - master the lexical, syntactic and stylistic structures of Russian; - to mobilise a know-how allowing to take part in communication situations.

Course contents :
Theoretical part: an overview of Russian history and cultural phenomena. Practical part: reading and discussion of texts; presentations of various topics by students; debates on current issues.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Theoretical part: lecture with note-taking, syllabus. Practical part: reading and discussion of texts, oral presentations on different cultural and societal aspects.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Continuous assessment of ability to synthesise content, coherence of written and oral production, lexical richness and grammatical control.
