Learning outcomes :
The course offers an introduction to economic ethics. It aims to provide students with theoretical resources to think about the moral issues raised by the conduct of economic actors and by the organization of the economic system.

After completing this course, students should be familiar with the basic concepts of ethics, the main contemporary moral and political theories, the ethical advantages and disadvantages of capitalism and its main rivals, and the different issues at stake in the debate on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). They should also be able to clarify and systematize their moral convictions and give a reasoned answer to moral questions raised by the conduct of economic actors and by the organization of the economic system.

Course contents :
1) & (2) : introduction to (the practice of) economic ethics.

(3) ? (6) : main contemporary moral and political theories (utilitarianism, libertarianism, liberal egalitarianism, marxism,...) and their economic implications.

(7) & (8) : Corporate Social Responsibility and shareholder theory.

(9) ? (11) : questions of economic ethics (the ethical limits of the market, sexism and racism in economic life, the problem of the just price, basic income...).

Assessment methods and criteria :
The assessment is a written examination (closed book) : MCQ and reflection questions.
