The course involves : ? acquiring a deep knowledge of the major works and authors of French-speaking contemporary literature ? the ability to recognize their historical and sociological context ? understanding the worth and the particular characteristics of these works ? the ability to analyse a primary work of French-speaking contemporary literature

Course contents :
The course's main focus is the works of the most recognized authors of French-speaking contemporary literature, locating them in their context and pinpointing the singular answer they have brought to the temporal discourse. The course will focus on three transversal areas : 1) the question of the narrative, 2) the crisis of designations, 3) literature in a world of images.
The seminary promotes a personalised implementation of the theoretical tools used during the course and their unique application by students themselves. Each student will present a personal research case-study orally and subsequently a written report which takes into account the oral presentation and pooling of results.

Assessment methods and criteria :
A written examination will evaluate each student's capacity to recognize an extract from one of the major works and to analyze it using one of the three tought areas (30% of the final mark). The evaluation of the seminar will be based on the oral presentation, the written report and the level of participation in class (70% of the final note).
