Learning outcomes :
On completing this Unit students should: Master the vocabulary of a range of different topics and understand, without the aid of a dictionary, a text in Italian of medium difficulty (press article, short piece of literature) using the vocabulary studied; Be able to understand the key information in an Italian-language text of medium difficulty and convey this information in the target language; Have begun to consider processes involved in translating from Italian into French and be able to apply them to a text of medium-level difficulty. (level B1 of the European Reference Framework for Languages)

Course contents :
Vocabulary building on a range of topics relating to everyday life; Close text analysis using texts of progressively increasing sophistication; Introduction to the methods and challenges of translation from Italian into French. Further details are available on the distance learning platform.
