Learning outcomes :
On completing this Unit "Translation", students should be able to demonstrate their ability to translate an unfamiliar text from the fields of the environment, economics, law or technology, and general texts, comic strips and graphic novels into perfect French in line with the norms of vocabulary and phraseology customary in these text genres; recognize and respect the intentions of the author of the original text.

For the Bachelor in translation and interpreting :

Course contents :
Translation exercises into French (real or popularized texts on the themes of the environment, law, economics or technology with readings of reference/parallel texts and terminological research). For « traduction à vue », the exercice takes place orally and is based on general articles, comic strips and graphic novels

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Translation exercises both in class and at home with individualized tutor correction and comparison with published translations.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Continuous assessment and written exam. “Traduction à vue »: continuous assessment for june, oral exam for augustus/september.
