MHAL1353 - German: Interpreting

Face-to-face , second term, 45 hours of theory.

Learning outcomes :
- Ensure a solid general culture and maintain a spirit of curiosity to constantly expand it
- Understand information, store it and use it effectively
- Become aware of transposition techniques through practical exercises and theoretical insights
- Detect allusions, stereotypes and intertextuality in oral production
- Conveying the message of the original production in the other language, considering the author's objectives and the target audience
- Use the language to a high level of accuracy in order to learn to convey all the subtleties of meaning

For the Bachelor in translation and interpreting :

Course contents :
Consecutive interpretation:
Theoretical insights
Training in memorization and linguistic transfer to language A

Liaison interpreting:
Managing bilingual communication with bi-active interpreting

For both subjects:
Introduction to the preparation of an interpreting assignment


Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Practical work, interactive exercises, role plays and simulations in the laboratory and on site.



Assessment methods and criteria :
To obtain the credits linked to the EU, the student must present the two parts of the examination relating to the EU and have carried out the work imposed during the semester in accordance with the instructions given.

The assessment takes the form of an oral examination (in two parts) on an announced subject:
- Consecutive interpretation (70%)
- Liaison interpreting (30%)

Attendance is compulsory and unjustified absence from more than two sessions will result in refusal to register for the examination. The same will apply to students who fail to hand in the required work within the time limit without justification.

The evaluation in the second session will also include a compulsory preparatory work and the oral examination (in two parts) on an announced subject.
