Learning outcomes :
The aim of this course is to perfect the level of oral and written expression, it aims for an in depth comprehension and expression. It will develop the student's analysis, discussion skills… as well as his ability to consult scientific sources in Spanish (literary criticism, linguistic references...).
It will bring the student to a greater autonomy and fluency in the targeted language.
It aims also to deepen the knowledge of Hispanic culture and diversity: we will focus on literature but also on the news, cinema, painting and history.
Throughout the course the student will aim for the C1-C2 level defined by the Common European Framework of Reference.

For the Bachelor in French and Romance Languages and Letters : General :

Course contents :
- Synchronic and diachronic linguistics;
- Morphosyntactic, lexical clarifications...;
- Comprehension and production of texts or messages of a certain complexity;
- Study of cultures of the Hispanic world.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Presential and non-presential :
Ex cathedra lecture on Spanish grammar
Practical exercises that imply an active participation of the students
Semi-autonomous learning of vocabulary
Personal assignments
Students are expected to write a research paper (tesina) in Spanish related to one of the course topics, to be agreed with their teacher, and supported by a selection of reliable sources


Assessment methods and criteria :
At the end of each term, a final mark is given whose repartition is:
30 % ongoing evaluation (vocabulary and grammar tests, exercises and oral presentations (further details on the on line calendar)
70%: final exam (1st term: only written examination, 2nd term written and oral examination)
 
Final mark of the UE:    1st term 40%
                                               2nd term 60%

Other information :
In the event that part of the teaching may be carried out remotely, students will receive their instructions by Moodle. Students' active participation in these activities is strongly required.
The assignments and the activities carried out through distance learning will also be included in the continuous assessment grade.
Any modification (contents, evaluation, schedule, and so forth) related to external circumstances (health situation, etc.) will be notified via Moodle.
