Learning outcomes :
On completing this Unit students should: Master the vocabulary of a range of different topics and understand, without the aid of a dictionary, a text in Italian of medium difficulty (press article, short piece of literature) using the vocabulary studied; Be able to understand the key information in an Italian-language text of medium difficulty and convey this information in the target language; Have begun to consider processes involved in translating from Italian into French. (level B1 of the European Reference Framework for Languages).

Course contents :
Vocabulary building on a range of topics relating to everyday life; Close text analysis using texts of progressively increasing sophistication; Introduction to the methods and challenges of translation from Italian into French. Further details are available on the distance learning platform.

Lectures and writing exercises (in class or at home, results shared in class)


Assessment methods and criteria :
Continuous summative assessment ; written exam ( and oral in case of distance exam) at the end of the Modules 1 & 2.
