Learning outcomes :
On completing the Unit ‘Grammar and Translation A-C', students should be able to demonstrate their ability to: Translate an unfamilar text (press article) into Italian applying the theory taught and avoiding lexical or syntactic calque ;

Course contents :
Translation into Italian of sentences and short general interest texts using a linguistic-contrastive approach; Commented reading of bilingual texts (French-Italian);

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Guided translation exercises translating into Italian with the goal of applying the theory taught and ‘learning by doing' (focus on lexical and grammatical aspects) and avoiding calque; study of selected points of Italian grammar (simple past, impersonal constructions, double plurals, etc.). Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam at the end of the Module.
