Mode of delivery :
Face-to-face , second term, 30 hours of theory and 15 hours of exercises.

Timetable :

Thursday from 10:45 to 12:45 at 109 Marais 610
Friday from 08:30 to 10:30 at 109 Marais 610

Learning outcomes :
These exercises are designed to put into practice the subject matter studied in the German linguistics II course (GERM1213 - Lecturer: Sabine De Knop). The students will develop their knowledge of the German morphology and syntax in specific exercises and more complex tasks (production of texts, analysis of constructions in the contemporary press, etc.). They will also be lead to understand and re-formulate the subject matter in short oral presentations on specific aspects of the German language, and to look for illustrations of the subject matter, different from those handed out in class. They should also pay attention to linguistic phenomena in the press, for instance.

Prerequisites :
For the Bachelor in Modern Languages and Letters: German, Dutch and English :

Co-requisites :
None

Course contents :
In order to implement the objectives mentioned above, different exercises will be proposed to the students in parallel with the German linguistics II course, i.e. either grammatical exercises (Konjunktiv, prepositions, etc.), or analysis exercises (morphology, etc.) and more complex exercises such as the production of texts or presentations on linguistic phenomena based on concrete examples, etc.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
The exercises require an active participation of the students and a preparation of the topics at home.

Assessment methods and criteria :
The assessment is partly formative, through exercises, tests, essays and short presentations on specific subjects.
After the tests in January, we will meet the students individually to discuss their results, and, if necessary, propose remedial work.

The final assessment is the June examination. This examination will focus on the subject matter studied in class and the students' linguistic interests.
