FILO1117 - Seminar: Reading of philosophical texts I

Language of instruction :
A French translation is available, but the course also teaches German conceptuality, of which the student should have a basic understanding.
Learning outcomes :
- To introduce the students to the reading of a major philosopher. - To learn how to read and analyse in a specific manner the main texts of the history of philosophy. - To examine Greek, Latin, German, French or Anglo-Saxon traditions, depending on the year (adding, where possible, a comparative dimension with non-European thoughts).

Course contents :
The seminar will focuses on “Being and Time” (1927) by Heidegger, in his relation to the history of Western metaphysics.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Oral presentations on and around the studied text and commentaries of specific extracts.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Oral examination on the course material. The student must be able to personally analyse extracts from the text seen in class.
