The course provides students with an overview of the rules designed to protect consumers in Europe. Will be considered the law of the European Union, where appropriate, on specific issues, national rights in a comparative perspective.

Students are encouraged to think about the limitations that should, if necessary, be imposed. Can we liberalize, deregulate, globalize without limit? Should we support these movements of rules in order to protect, in particular, consumer? The emphasis is on practical skills: able to reason on concrete situations in order to better protect consumer. This course is part of a comprehensive training program. The lecturers responsible are a team of education: they consult on the content and methods of each course to ensure complementarity.

Wherever possible and given the number of students, the course is based on participatory teaching methods, with given documents. The lecturer will use illustrative examples and challenges students to apply their newly acquired knowledge to practical situations.

Consumer law covers all areas of law, from the perspective of consumer. Since all these areas can't be addressed, a yearly choice is made regarding the main evolution which arised. Amongst these topics: unfair commercial practices, safety of consumers, food security, passengers' rights.
