Learning outcomes :
On completing this Unit students should be able to: - Correctly use the rules of grammar learnt in class in both oral and written contexts - Correctly use lexical and grammatical spelling rules - Correctly manipulate and alternate various simple and complex Turkish sentence structures - Translate from language A into language C and within the agreed timeframe a new text on a familiar subject, with or without CAT-tools or dictionaries, using correct grammar, lexical selection, syntax, phraseology and punctuation.

Course contents :
Grammatical content : • Expressing conditionality and hypothesis (real) • Expressing conditionality and hypothesis (unreal) • Compound verb (tenses) (Bile?ik Zamanlar) • Indirect speech (Dolaylı Anlatımlar) • Voice (Çatı Ekleri) • Compound verbs (Bile?ik Yapılı Fiiller) • Conjunctions (Ba?laçlar) • Postposing (Edatlar)
Translation practice: Guided translation exercises translating into Turkish with the goal of applying the theory taught and ‘learning by doing' (focus on lexical and grammatical aspects) using a linguistic-contrastive approach; Commented reading of bilingual texts (French-Turkish).

Assessment methods and criteria :
This module/course is subdivided into two parts (grammatical content and translation practice) and has two separate exams. The global mark is an average calculated as described above/below. In case of a fail grade, you're invited to visit the MOODLE page of the course and check the details. A 10/20 or higher mark will automatically be transferred to the second or third exam session. It's thus not possible to re-sit the exam related to this part of the course.
