Learning outcomes :
The student has to show he is able to write a paper based on the knowledge and skills acquired during the program, which can take the form of e.g. a literature survey, a case study, an empirical research.
Students need to identify the problem/research question they want to address, and need to answer the problem in the report. They have to find and describe the relevant literature within the scope of the problem. Depending on the chosen form of the dissertation, they need to collect the correct data and analyze them. They will need to find a theory/method to address the problem and will have to argument in favor (and describe the drawbacks) of the method chosen. Moreover they need to discuss the obtained results, draw conclusions and put the results in perspective in relation to the theory (and empirical data). The written report needs to be structured, comprehensive, clear and present a critical evaluation.

Assessment methods and criteria :
1) On Monday March 30th 2020, every student needs to send in a file Anouk Claes (anouk.claes@usaintlouis.be) where the title of the project, together with the research question and a preliminary reference list and table of contents needs to be formulated.

2) We recommend students to at least have 2 meetings with the lecturer. Please contact her by mail to set up a meeting.

3) The deadline for handing in the dissertation will be June 12th 2020 (for the second session: August 19th 2020). Make sure you hand in a paper version to the secretary and email an electronic copy (pdf file) to (anouk.claes@usaintlouis.be) and espo-hd@saintlouis.be .

The evaluation will be based on the written manuscript that should not exceed 40 pages (excluding appendices). The student needs to describe the context, the problem and a proposed solution. She/he will need to motivate the choices made, his evaluation, and clearly formulate a conclusion and add (if necessary) appendices.
The oral defense of the thesis consists of a presentation of the work, followed by questions and answers. The final mark for the dissertation will take the quality of the work into account, the manuscript (60%) and the oral defense (40%).
