Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Interactive course.

To achieve these objectives, we propose a two-step approach:
• Input: the students will be asked to listen, in class or on their own, to video excerpts (international news and business world), to read press articles, …
• Practice: i.e. the use of the input in real communicative contexts. This will be done through presentations and debates.

In BAC III, students will be asked to prepare professional presentations, well structured, communicative and lively that take advantage of modern presentation techniques (PowerPoint).
The chosen subjects will be directly related to socio-economic, political and cultural reality; they will be available on the following websites: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/ Special reports - http://edition.cnn.com/topics/ Topics.
The subjects chosen this year are: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/ Israel at 60, Food price crisis, Oil prices, Resurgent Russia, Climate change - http://edition.cnn.com/topics/ Topics Just imagine: What will life be like in 2020?, American votes 2008.

Before the presentation, the students read carefully and prepare the introduction articles (lead-in) with the help of a vocabulary list. The lesson will start with a test. One week before the presentation, the group in charge of presenting the subject will communicate one or two debate questions to the other students. It is important to make an outline of important arguments and to use 'connectives' and 'strategic phrases' for the argumentation. The presentation may not last longer than 15 to 20 minutes. It should be logical and well structured. No reading will be allowed. The presentation will include the sites quoted above as well as the students' personal sources.
At the end of their presentation, the students should hand out a list of questions about the chosen subject - these questions should prepare the oral examination. The students who attend the presentations, should do it actively: critique of the form, content, relevant questions.
For the oral examination, all the students should have read the articles relating to the presented subjects. They should be able to answer clearly the questions asked in class and to defend their point of view on the studied subjects.
A schedule of presentations will be set at the beginning of the year. The students who are enable to present their work because of medical reasons (with supporting medical certificate) or because of professional reasons (with supporting employer's certificate) will have to inform the professor as soon as possible. They should be ready to make their presentation at any time in the following weeks.
