Course contents :
Starting from the problem of defining philosophy, the course opts for its status of general theory of scientific knowledge. We study ancient and modern sources before turning to empiricism and neo-positivism. We will analyse its fundamental ideas before studying the reasons of its review starting from the linguistic turn initiated by contemporary analytical philosophy. Against the resulting relativism, the course calls into question the merits of a return to realism and attempts to argue in favour of an idealistic position in theory of science.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Ex cathedra presentations.
