The Faculty of Philosophy, Languages & Letters, and Human Sciences
The changing world, the zeitgeist of the time, foreign cultures; such will be your objects of study with us at the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages & Letters, and Human Sciences. As a student in our faculty, you will learn how to formally define the terms of a problem, or of a question in your field of study, how to set out your ideas or findings coherently, and how to write in a clear and effective style.
The faculty offers four programmes, in:
Philosophy
History
French and Romance Languages and Letters
Modern Languages and Letters: German, Dutch and English
The faculty’s School of Philosophy and Religion also offers doctoral programmes, as well as chairs in philosophy and in theology.
What sets Saint-Louis apart?
At Saint-Louis we are proud to offer high-quality and comprehensive university-level programmes of study.
Our programmes are designed to provide you with a thorough grounding in your chosen field, whether you wish to become a philosopher, a historian, or a linguist. Their intellectual scope is also designed to make them relevant to the most recent issues affecting our contemporary world. The reason for this is twofold:
First, to understand one’s discipline implies understanding its place in the world, its role in society, its relevance, and its relationship with other scientific disciplines,
Second, broadening out the traditional cursus to deal with contemporary issues provides a solid preparation for working life.
