Lightening
Lightening at enrolment
For professional, academic, social or medical reasons known at the beginning of the year, a student may be authorised by the Select Committee to enrol in an annual programme of fewer than 60 credits (see general conditions in the attached form). The registration fees are fixed in proportion to the credits of the reduced programme (base = 60 credits).
In pratice
The student must be actually enrolled in a program of study in Saint-Louis enrolment until September 30 of the current year No file will be examined if the student is not actually registered.
The "Request for lightening" must be submitted to the student's the Faculty administration no later than October 31 of the current year.
"Pedagogical" lightening in the second quadrimester
The "pedagogical" lightening is the lightening of the annual study programme in the second semester for students in Block 1. The tuition fees are not adjusted in the case of a "pedagogical" lightening.
The lightening of the programme allows students to take the time to study certain subjects in greater depth and to acquire an appropriate working method.
In practice
Lightening must be applied for by February 15 of the current year at the latest and must be approved by the curriculum jury.
The "Pedagogical" lightening request form is to be entered in the the Faculty administration of the study programme.
Lightening for serious medical or social reasons during the year
A lightening for serious medical or social reasons allows the student to reduce the number of credits in the annual programme of study (APS), i.e. to create an APS containing fewer than 60 credits on the basis of a serious medical or social reason during the year. Fees are not adjusted in the case of an in-year lightening for serious medical or social reasons.
Lightening for serious medical or social reasons allows any student regularly enrolled in an academic degree, regardless of the level of advancement in his/her studies, who, during the academic year, encounters health or social problems that prevent him/her from assuming a usual workload of 60 credits.
In pratice
Lightening for serious medical or social reasons may be requested from October 1 until the end of registration for the June assessments, i.e. March, 1 2023.
To do so, please submit the duly completed and signed Request for lightening on Serious Medical or Social Grounds form, together with a medical certificate/evidence of your inability to complete all the units in your EAP, to the relevant faculty secretariat.
