Key learning outcomes
By the end of the Bachelor in Modern Languages and Literatures, orientation German, Dutch and English, students will have acquired the following skills:
-
an excellent command of the two Germanic languages studied, both in terms of receptive (listening and reading) and productive skills (speaking and writing): C1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, 4 skills: reading C1/ writing B2-C1/ talking B2-C1/ listening C1;
-
and more specifically, advanced capabilities in actual translation;
-
knowledge of German literature, and more broadly, European literature;
-
knowledge of the culture of Germanic countries,
-
and more broadly, a general culture in humanist human and social sciences (philosophy, psychology, history, art history, literature);
-
a capacity for critical reflection on knowledge and, especially, on the ethical foundations of the discipline;
-
openness to different approaches to the discipline (see courses followed at Marie Haps)
-
experience in contacts with German non-native (see travel, meetings, conferences, optional internships);
-
familiarity with the requirements of scientific research through the production of a first substantial work (final dissertation).

Besides the philological and performative mastery of two Germanic languages:

A strong ability to analyse information, synthesise and write;

A sense of autonomy and responsibility in the face of a variety of tasks.
