The Europe of the 28 is bound to be further enlarged. It is foreseen that the stabilisation and association process with the ex-Yugoslav Republics and Albania will lead to their accession.
On the other side, the negotiations for the accession of Turkey are expected to follow an arduous path with an uncertain outcome. The issue of the oriental border of the Union will come up, with the prospects for Moldova, Ukraine and even Belarus. In the case of accession of Turkey, what will happen with Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan? Evolutions are also possible with respect to Norway and Switzerland.
