2018 - 2019 Programme
At the end of the programme students will:
I. Be conversant with the discipline’s core teachings and methods.
Students will acquire
• A practical command of the fundamental concepts and models of economics and management
• The basic methodological tools needed to undertake academic work in economics and management.
More specifically, students will:
All CU in BAS 1 and 2 in economics and management.
The CU of Economics I, II, The CU of public economics. , the CU of Firm's management - simulation game.
The advanced courses in economics and management in BAS 3.
In particular the CU in BAS 3 in economics, in their critical reflective dimension. The CU introducing the interdisciplinary dimension.
Students will acquire:
• The ability to use mathematics and computer models to support analytical reasoning. In particular, students will learn to:
All the CU in mathematics and statistics.
All CU in quantitative methods; Set of CU in information technology.
II. Possess a grounding in fields that are complementary to economics and management.
Students will acquire:
• A practical command of core academic knowledge and skills in the human, legal, and social sciences that are essential for the analysis of economic and management questions. In particular, students will acquire:
• A grounding in the major fields of thought that underpin the human and social sciences.
List of CU of Philosophy, Law, Sociology, Political Science, etc.
• The ability to see the connections between the different disciplinary insights, as well as to understand and exploit their complementarities.
CU introducing the interdisciplinary dimension: Ethics and the Economy, Economics history, CU of Economics: interdisciplinary approaches.
III. Possess a grounding in science.
Students will acquire:
• An understanding of the scientific underpinnings of technological processes and information management and their respective implications in a management perspective. In particular, students learn/acquire:
CU in chemistry and physics; CU in technology.
Set of CU in Information Technology.
IV. Know how to use the scientific method.
In particular, students will learn to:
• Apply intellectual rigour in their academic work and to produce intellectually sound analysis
• Critically compare theoretical insights learned with real situations.
• Exploit the knowledge resources available at university, notably by acquiring expertise in the use of the methods and tools of documentary research.
In practical terms, students will learn to:
LO of the practical exercise classes for CU in economics, management and econometrics.
LO of the practical exercise classes for statistics, LO of the practical exercise classes for Economics II.
Economic histoty, Ethics and the Economy, Economics: interdisciplinary approaches, advanced economics in BAS 3.
V. Have a command of oral and written communication
At the end of the Programme students will be able to:
• Use written and oral communication skills in two languages in addition to French and be able to defend a scholarly argument or present a piece of research in accordance with academic ethics. In particular students will acquire:
LO of the practical classes for all economics and management courses; the CU of Firm's management - simulation game.
All Course Units in Dutch and English in BAS 1,2 and 3.
ERASMUS exchanges in BAS 3.
For students following multilingual programmes the goals are to acquire:
All CU in foreign languages in multilingual programmes.
