Learning outcomes :
This course develops the tools necessary to understand and analyse economic policies.

The aim is to sharpen the discerning mind of the students in the face of important public policies. At the end of the course, the students should be able to assess the advantages and disadvantages of different economic policies.

Course contents :
The course starts with the analysis of a market economy, his strenghts and failures. We will then study the collective choice and the properties of various electoral systems. We will then focus on income distribution, inequality and poverty, the fiscal system, pensions and health care.

Theoretical classes and exercises in order to get familiar with the notions.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam.
