Learning outcomes :
- Develop the different skills with an emphasis on writing skills in order to reach level B1 (Common European Framework of Reference);
- Broadening of the lexical knowledge, especially of political and social items or vocabulary related to studies, leisure and current themes;
- Study and put into context supplemental grammar.

Course contents :
The lessons are devoted to different aspects of society such as political and social and global aspects.

The course aims to develop and broaden grammar and semantic skills.

The lessons enable to:
- Develop listening and reading comprehension thanks to current articles or reports on chosen themes;
- Develop writing skills through reports or essays on studied themes;
- Study supplemental grammar such as: sentences structure / the passif form / P2 / pronouns - adverbs…);
- Use and put the studied grammar and vocabulary into context.

In order to achieve writing and reading skills, the student will elaborate some personal essays on articles he read, related to studied themes.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
- Reading articles and listening comprehension;
- Writing exercises including supplemental grammar in order to compose more complex sentences.

Assessment methods and criteria :
1/ Formative assessment :

- The essays, compositions or grammar exercises will be checked now and then in order to follow up students' work ;
- The students' attendance and active participation influence their final assessment.

2/ Final assessment :

The final assessment will be based on:
- Different exercises produced during the semesters;
- The final exam which assesses the students' knowledge of the contents of the whole year.
