Key learning outcomes

By the end of the Bachelor in History, the student will have acquired the following skills:

  • A knowledge of history, major disciplines, currents of thought and culture of Western societies;
  • A basic knowledge of an ancient language;
  • A passive knowledge of a modern language (Germanic or Romance);
  • An opening to new fields of history in connection with the sciences of society, communication and law in a multidisciplinary perspective;
  • The acquisition of a reflexive and critical awareness in the practice of the historical process;
  • The development of ethical, social and personal skills with the historical perspective of current issues;
  • The ability to produce work of scientific significance in history: ability to clearly set down a problem, conduct heuristics, criticize sources and existing work, use data in a critical and contextualised manner, and submit the results in an intelligible and well argued form,

and more broadly, a set of transferable skills:

  • A strong information analysis, synthesis and writing ability;
  • The ability to set down the terms of a problem and to think critically;
  • A sense of autonomy and responsibility when face with various tasks;
  • A written and oral command of the French language.
