Programme Objectives
The Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of European Construction is taught during the evenings and offers its professionally active public a multidisciplinary programme on European integration and related European institutions and policies. Students satisfying programme requirements are granted an Advanced Masters degree.
The programme content brings to light numerous legal, economic, historical and political aspects of European integration as well as interdisciplinary elements on topics and issues related to the unification process. Students are also required to submit a thesis that personalises a student’s intellectual investment on European matters.
The education students receive through this programme is demanding in terms not only of the in-depth nature of the courses but also of the scope of knowledge it provides on an entire range of aspects related to European integration, including Dimensions involving sound reasoning and critical thought. This course of study imparts to students the intellectual resources they will need to conduct professional activities and take into account the realities of an increasingly integrated Europe.
The programme’s structure includes a strong foundation in the basic disciplines as well as courses that focus on the main dimensions of European policies.
The courses are taught Monday through Thursday in the evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and on some Saturday mornings.
This one-year programme is jointly organised by UCL and Saint-Louis University, Brussels. All courses are taught at Saint-Louis.

Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of European construction
Programme Structure
This 60-ECTS-credit programme is composed of 270 hours of courses and seminars that count for 45 ECTS credits and a final-year assignment that counts for 15 ECTS credits. The core courses represent 30 ECTS credits and are taught during the first term. These courses cover various disciplines and include an interdisciplinary seminar “Europe as it is tought”.
The second term work counts for 15 ECTS credits and is devoted to the final-year assignment and to the analysis of the scope and means of European policies. In this framework, students are introduced to European information and documentation.
Students may request to spread the programme over two academic years.
Admission Requirements
Admission to Advanced Master studies is governed by article 54 of the Decree of 31 March 2004 defining higher education, facilitating its integration into European higher education and the refinancing of universities, as well as the ensuing legislation/measures in application of this decree.
The following degree holders qualify for direct admission to the Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of the Construction of Europe without any additional courses:
An academic degree of Master (120 ECTS credits), granted by institutions in the French-speaking Community of Belgium or in the Flemish Community of Belgium, including the academic degrees granted by non-university institutions of higher education teaching full-length programmes of study or by the Belgian Royal Military Academy.
A second-cycle academic degree granted by institutions in the French-speaking Community of Belgium in accordance with the provisions existing prior to the decree of 31 March 2004.
A foreign degree or qualification recognised as being equivalent to one of the aforementioned degrees by the French-speaking Community of Belgium.
The following degree holders also qualify for admission to the Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis by virtue of a decision by the admissions committee and according to the additional requirements it makes,
