Learning outcomes :
To develop the students' understanding of the theories used to explain the European integration process, by introducing and evaluating the main schools of thought in European integration theory.

Course contents :
- Introduction to theorizing the European integration process.
- Classical integration theories : federalism, (neo-)functionalism, liberal intergovernmentalism.
- Current perspectives on European integration : governance, multi-level governance, policy networks, new-institutionalism, social constructivism, Europeanization, political economy.
- Overview of European integration theories.
- Application of these theoretical models to empirical questions of EU politics and policy-making.
