Learning outcomes :
1°) to sufficiently understand a written or audio document (press article, interview, continuous text, etc.)
2°) to be able to detect and identify the main ideas in a document (to be able to structurally summarise a written or audio document)
3°) to be able to express a critical opinion about a document
4°) to make a written summary of a short text (i.e. a press article)
5°) to understand and be able to express ones thoughts about an audio document (audio or video)

Course contents :
1°) reading comprehension (texts, press articles, interviews, etc.)
2°) written expression (drafting of short texts, summarising articles, expressing ones opinion in a few lines, etc.)
3°) listening comprehension (audio or video soundtrack)
4°) oral expression (summarise contents, expressing ones opinion, expressing ideas, discussing)


Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
1°) course centred on the development and the improvement of the 4 essential skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and oral expression.
2°) means used: written documents (continuous texts, press articles, Internet, etc.)
various audio documents (recordings, radio or televised news broadcasts, reports, etc.)


Assessment methods and criteria :
1°) formative evaluation: during the course by means of specific self-evaluation exercises
2°) certificate-based evaluation:
- 1 continuous assessment on the basis of regular and participative classroom attendance as well as on the basis of the completion of the exercises assigned;
- 1 final examination consisting of:
- a written test (one exercise in reading comprehension and one exercise in listening comprehension)
- a brief oral test (an informal talk relating to a text or article to be prepared beforehand)
