USL-B

Credits : 0

Lecturers :
Mode of delivery :
Face-to-face , first and second term, 30 hours of theory.

Language of instruction :
French

Learning outcomes :
The objective of the Interdisciplinary Seminar is to introduce students to the interdisciplinary approach. More specifically, it is about getting students to problematize a research topic of their choice. It is a question of "giving something to think about", of building a reflection that mobilizes disciplines other than law (history, economics, politics, sociology, criminology, philosophy...) and of expressing it in accordance with scientific standards.

Prerequisites :
None

Co-requisites :
None

Course contents :
During the first term, the seminar sessions will be devoted to the critical reading of scientific articles. Students will be asked to analyse them in order to identify the structure of these resources and the construction of a scientific argument. In the second term, students are invited to implement the lessons learned during research on a subject of their choice.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Teaching formula based on interactivity. The seminar includes readings of texts, presentations by the course holder and possible interventions by invited persons and/or students.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Three criteria are taken into account in the final evaluation:
- active participation during the seminar sessions;
- the quality of the oral presentation of the final work;
- the final work (compliance with formal academic requirements, construction of a personal reflection based on authors).

Final work:
A "state of the art" must be provided by each student at a scheduled mid-term session. The status of the issue is a one- or two-page document. It shows the chosen theme and the way it will be addressed, "problematized". It is useful to indicate some bibliographic references.
The status of the question allows the teacher to see where each student stands and to make suggestions if necessary. This document will be returned to students in one of the following sessions.
The delivery of the work will take place at the end of the second term - the exact date will be communicated.

Recommended or required reading :
Bibliographical suggestions are proposed to students during the first sessions.
