Learning outcomes :
By the end of the course, students are expected to have acquired a thorough knowledge of the works studied as well as the capacity to analyse them according to the reading approaches and hypotheses covered during the course; they will have to be able to reproduce this type of analysis on other similar works.

Course contents :
The course will be devoted to dramatic literature, and more particularly to tragic and comic works. After a theoretical introduction presenting the essential concepts for the course as well as the interest of its approach, the course will move on to its two parts: the first part will focus on Don Juan by Molière and will successively propose three different approaches; the second will attempt to establish links by studying some plays by Samuel Beckett according to the same hypothesis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
The course is taught by the lecturer. Nevertheless, the students are invited to take an active part in the classroom through group discussions and prior readings of the works. Moreover, each student will be required to submit an individual assignment.
