Learning outcomes :
The objective of the course is to give students a thorough knowledge of the rules of the “bon usage” and at the same time introduce them to the critical analysis of normative discourse:

1. Strong command of the metalanguage of grammar
2. The morphosyntactic analysis of contemporary written French
3. Initiation to the critical analysis of normative discourse

Course contents :
The French morphosyntactic reference system with analysis of examples.

1) Grammar vs linguistics
2) Syntactic categories
3) The concept of category
4) Case study
