Learning outcomes :
Upon completion, the students will be able:

- to structure their linguistic knowledge and to update it;
- to master the lexical, syntactical and stylistic structures (including the various registers) of Russian;
- to analyze a text as to the approached concepts, sociocultural context, aimed public, and objectives of the author;
- to understand the contents of an oral or written message and recompose it while respecting the author's author;
- to develop the ability of performing fast analysis of a written text or an oral message, extracting the essential information and general structure;
- to stand back from the message in order to distinguish the essential thing from the accessory;
- to deliver the message in the B language while remaining faithful to the original one.

Course contents :
Listening, reading, understanding and discussing various subjects (i.e.: the city and its interesting sights, environmental and societal matters, the Russian versus western mentality…)
Exercises of control of the vocabulary.
Work on oral presentations. Wide use of audio-visual media.


Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Exercises of control of the vocabulary.
Exercise of speech relating to the learnt vocabulary and the studied subjects.
Oral presentations by the students. Debate. Group work.


Assessment methods and criteria :
Ongoing assessment. Written and oral examinations (language: Russian) at the end of the year.

This course is subdivided into two parts (oral practice and lexicology) and has two separate exams. The global mark is an average calculated as described. In case of a fail grade, you're invited to visit the MOODLE page of the course and check the details. A 10/20 or higher mark will automatically be transferred to the second or third exam session. It is thus not possible to re-sit the exam related to this part of the course.

Remote online exam if stricter social distancing measures are required due to Covid-19.
