FRAN1321 - French for beginner's/intermediate level students (A2)

The aim of the course is to bring students from A2 level to B1 level.

Course contents :
By the end of this course they will be able to make a simple and coherent speech on familiar subjects, related directly or indirectly to their interests, and also to briefly outline a project, describe an event, an experience, etc. while understanding and integrating the sequence of tenses rules of the indicative mode. Students will also possess the necessary knowledge in regards to subjunctive and conditional tenses to allow them to formulate a hypothesis, to express desires and regrets.

Written expression exercises will be requested on a regular basis from the students, as well as oral communication exercises, that will gradually lead them to a level of spontaneity and fluency that makes conversation with a native speaker possible without strain for either party.
Also in an effort to sharpen their understanding of the syntactic structures of the French language and enrich their vocabulary skills, the students will be invited to read a novel (the choice of the book will be determined at the beginning of the four-month period).

Interactive communicative lessons.

Assessment methods and criteria :
An active presence during this course - including the completion of all requested expression exercises (written and oral) - is mandatory and will be taken into account in the grade awarded to the student after the final exam.
The assessment of the skills acquired by the student will take place at the end of the four-month period in the form of a written and oral examination.
