Le professeur F. van der Mensbrugghe propose une conférence-débat réunissant deux personnalités prestigieuses du monde judiciaire, Lady Brenda Hale, Vice-Présidente de la Cour suprême du Royaume-Uni et le juge Paul Lemmens de la Cour européenne des Droits de l’Homme. Cette conférence est la deuxième du cycle « Passeurs de frontières » et s’inscrit dans le cadre des programmes bilingues français-anglais.

François van der Mensbrugghe annonce lui-même cet événement  exceptionnel en ces termes :

“Constitutional adjudication in Europe is increasingly characterized by novel techniques of judicial reasoning and a greater propensity than ever before towards the citation of foreign precedents and international case law (including European law). The issue remains to determine how “transjudicial dialogue” is dealt with in practice in Europe where you have myriad legal systems that have shaped the continent’s past (and molded its future…).

Saint-Louis University, Brussels will be hosting a debate on this subject on Friday 28 March. The speakers taking part in this debate will include Lady Brenda HALE, Deputy President of the U.K Supreme Court and Judge Paul LEMMENS of the European Court of Human Rights.

The debate, beginning at 3 pm sharp in Room 100 (109, rue du Marais, Brussels), will be followed by short Q&A session. All are warmly invited to attend.”
