Alternative accommodation options
If you prefer to look for accommodation independently then there are different options available.
Please always be careful. In order to avoid fraud or any unfortunate surprise, here are some tips:
Check that the address exists and that the building has student accommodation; if necessary, try to get in touch with them via social networks;
Ask for a direct contact with the owner to know more about him/her and the accommodation;
Do not pay anything until you have signed a proper lease agreement;
See if the landlord uses the student housing lease recommended by the PLE, which protects tenants (this is not an obligation);
Make sure that the landlord provides a lease contract. Otherwise, it will be problematic when you register to the city hall;
The landlord may ask for a deposit. Please know that it cannot exceed an amount equivalent to two or three months’ rent.
